Scope of Work:
The goal for a Deaf Mentor is to provide support and to increase the ability for families with a deaf child to learn about language and culture through the use of American Sign Language.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meet with assigned families once a week. Each visit shall be one hour in length.
- Complete a calendar of visits, lesson plans, and child progress monitoring and submit to the Coordinator of the Shared Reading Program once a month.
- Create quarterly reports that include the following:
- demographics data;

Scope of Work:
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is looking for a Respite Worker to assist in providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities based on their individualized service plans and valued outcomes by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides individualized care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Guides individuals in leisure activities.
- Performs work in accordance with appropriate procedures under the supervision of the Respite Supervisor and Social Work Supervisors.
- Supervises individual in their care at all times.
- Completes all necessary checklists and paperwork as required.
- Provides needed programmatic information at all program meetings, both in and out of the Respite Program.
- Maintains a case load of individuals
- Coordinates and attends all individuals’ Life Plan, Respite and/or Special Team meetings.
- Participates in establishing new goals with individuals.
- Reports accidents and suspected abuse as required by law.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Respite Supervisor.
- Any other duties as outlined by your supervisor

- Willingness to learn and communicate in American Sign Language
- Valid Driver’s License
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Objective:
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is looking for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to work within Nassau and Suffolk Counties to interpret both in person and remote.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting and/or transliterating services for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and/or Deaf-Blind consumers and hearing consumers in a variety of settings including Video Remote Interpreting
- Keep all assignment-related information strictly confidential
- Adhere to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
- Function in a manner appropriate to each assignment, demonstrating professional appearance, conduct and promptness
- Strive to further knowledge and skills through participation in workshops, professional meetings, interaction with colleagues and remain updated of current literature in the field
- Complete continuing education & maintain ethical business practices
- Assist with office projects and in-office needs
- Ability to mentor interpreters and work with interns
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong signing and voicing skills
- Excellent Organizational Skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Comfortable interpreting in a variety of settings including on screen
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Google Products including Google Drive and Gmail
- Knowledge of web-based meeting platforms- Zoom, Meets, Microsoft Teams, Webex for Video Remote Interpreting
