An open-captioned film - SEE WHAT I'M SAYING - will be shown at the Clearview Cinemas Soundview Theatre in Port Washington from Friday, August 6 to Thursday, August 12. Mill Neck Manor Early Childhood Center Graduation Ceremony

Preschool graduates from the Mill Neck Manor Early Childhood Center will participate in the 2010 Graduation Ceremony, to be held at the Deaf Education Center auditorium on the Mill Neck Manor campus. English Equivalents ASL Workshop

Mill Neck Interpreter Service (MNIS) will host a workshop entitled “English Equivalents: Whoa! Train Zoom Gone. Did You See What She Signed? What Did She Mean by That and How Can I Say it in English?” featuring renowned American Sign Language (ASL) performer, teacher, workshop presenter and actress Trix Bruce. The workshop will be held at the Mill Neck Manor Deaf Education Center auditorium on Saturday, September 25 from 9 am to 4 pm. Sponsored by Bruce, the workshop is FREE to all MNIS interpreters. The fee for non-MNIS interpreters is $75. As Bruce is an approved RID CMP sponsor for continuing education activities, the Professional Studies program is offered for 0.6 CEUs at the little/no to some content level at the cost of $10 per participant (in addition to the workshop fee). Renowned Comedienne Trix Bruce to Perform at Mill Neck Manor

Mill Neck Services is pleased to announce a very special show with renowned Deaf comedienne Trix Bruce at the Mill Neck Manor Deaf Education Center auditorium on September 25, 2010. An American Sign Language performer, teacher, workshop presenter and actress, Trix will perform a show entitled “The Hearing World Around Me,” at 7 pm. Tickets are only $20 in advance and $25 at the door. At the live, one Deaf-woman show, Trix will thrill the audience with her charismatic humor, experience and insight. A voice interpreter will be provided at the show. One RID CEU (Continuing Education Unit) clock hour will also be provided to interpreters. Fall Harvest Festival

Saturday and Sunday, October 9 and 10, 2010
9 am to 5 pm

Mill Neck Family’s Fall Harvest Festival annually brings the best of the autumn season to Long Island. This year’s Festival, to be held on October 9 and 10 from 9 am to 5 pm, will feature a wide variety of apples, handmade country crafts, grilled bratwurst and more. Visitors will find a “Cheese House,” mouth-watering baked goods, jellies, fudge and strudels, bratwurst, a “Gourmet Shop” and a popular children’s activities area. This year, thanks to Barnes & Noble in Manhasset, Author Nick Katsoris (Saturday 12 to 3 pm), and Author Maureen Sullivan and Illustrator Alison Josephs (Sunday 12 to 3 pm), will read their books in the pumpkin patch. On Saturday from 12 to 3 pm, legendary Sportscaster and Author Len Berman will join us to autograph his new book “The Greatest Baseball Players of All Time” (rain date Sunday). In addition, visitors can participate in our 50/50 Raffle for just $10 a ticket. There will also be opportunities to learn about the Deaf, our schools and services. The Festival showcases the latest in Deaf technology, sign language novelty items and books. Proceeds from the Festival support the Mill Neck Family of Organizations.
