Partnership with Lutheran Churches is a
vital part of Mill Neck's ministry. Mill Neck provides funding
for a full time pastor to work with the Deaf. The Rev. William
Wrede currently serves as the Mission Field Developer for
Deaf Ministry. Through this position, two Deaf congregations
in New York City are served and hearing congregations are
visited regularly, informing them about ministry to people
who are Deaf in the Atlantic District. Monthly opportunities
for Christian fellowship are also provided on Long Island.
The Atlantic District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod
is responsible for over 40 missions in Metropolitan New York,
Long Island and Eastern New York State. The district also
employs two dozen mission field developers, most of whom are
working in culture-specific ministries. The task of the field
developer is to plant missions and congregations in a number
of areas within the district and to develop leaders in each
of the sites. For more information about the Atlantic District,
